PROPOSED CHANGES TO TSS IN BAY OF FUNDY, NOVA SCOTIA

To increase protection of the endangered North Atlantic Right Whale and reduce incidents of ship collisions with these mammals, a proposal has been put forward by the Canadian Government which alters the traffic separation scheme (TSS) running through the Bay of Fundy, Nova Scotia. Drawn up in coordination with local ship operators the new scheme will greatly reduce the risk of ships colliding with these endangered whales and if successful will dramatically benefit the whale population in the area.

Transport Canada has issued a notice requesting input from ships operating in the area regarding the proposed changes. A chart reflecting the current TSS and the proposed scheme can be found here
