Some shipowners are concerned that they may be incurring delays to the vessel when complying with a request for a SIRE Inspector to be accompanied by a SIRE Audited Inspector.

SIRE have advised us that this process is now part of the routine Inspector Accreditation process. Also there will be no additional expense to owners for the attendance of the Auditor. More importantly, the Auditors are instructed to advise the Audited Inspector, before the inspection commences, that the inspection must, in all aspects, be totally normal. Minor fault finding and attention to trivial detail would be seen as unacceptable by the Auditor and the Audited Inspector would be marked down accordingly.
