The Lifeboat User Group gains wider recognition

As reported in Weekly NEWS 17/2007, dated 27 April 2007, INTERTANKO and INTERCARGO have established a "Lifeboat User Group" together with ILAMA (International Life-saving Appliance Manufacturers' Association).

We are very pleased to note that the forum is now beginning to gather momentum and gain wider recognition among the shipping press, and in particular in magazines targeting seafarers.

The main aim of the Lifeboat User Group is to facilitate a forum where end users of lifeboats and associated equipment can provide the manufacturers with feedback in order for the manufacturers to improve their equipment.

Therefore, constructive feedback covering all aspects of the lifeboat concept, design, handling, maintenance or location would be most welcome.

INTERTANKO guarantees that the names of people and vessels will remain confidential.

E-mails to the Lifeboat User Group should be addressed to: lifeboats@intertanko.com

INTERTANKO urges all members to inform their Crew, Officers, Safety Managers and relevant personnel, of this possibility to air any concerns they may have about lifeboats and their equipment, and to share their experiences, in order to provide the forum with the feedback necessary to persuade manufacturers to improve their equipment.
