U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) contacts INTERTANKO on crewing issues

Reference is made to INTERTANKO’s article published in Weekly NEWS No. 49/05 dated 9 December 2005. The article summarised the outcome of a meeting with GAO and the feedback received from INTERTANKO members to a GAO questionnaire. The main emphasis was placed on implementation of the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code and “on the vulnerabilities of foreign and domestic maritime energy transport infrastructure to terrorism”.

GAO has again contacted INTERTANKO, this time to explore issues relating to crewing onboard vessels transporting LNG, LPG, and crude oil to U.S. ports.

INTERTANKO invites members to respond briefly to the GAO Questionnaire in order for INTERTANKO to submit a response which accurately reflects its members’ views.

The deadline for your response to the undersigned is Tuesday 6 June. Many thanks in advance for your kind assistance.
