As part of the continuing efforts by the Vetting Committee to involve the members in vetting issues, INTERTANKO hosted two interesting and lively vetting seminars this week in Hong Kong and Tokyo.

Attendance from the membership was very good and both venues were full on the day. The agendas were tailored as far as possible so that the issues were regionally specific. Feedback from participants would be most welcome and will be passed back to the Ship Inspection Vetting Committee at its next session in March 2002.

The fora were chaired by Capt Howard Snaith, Marine Manager, and Minerva Alfonso, Senior Vice President. Topics discussed included The Malacca Straits’ under-keel clearance and channel depths, progress with the Port State Control Appeals procedure and current updates regarding the SIRE system.
