Volatile situation in Niger Delta

Currently, no loading operations are being carried out at the Forcados terminal due to damage caused to the platform by militants who set it on fire on February 19.

In light of the current volatile situation, we understand that the terminal has started evacuating its staff.

Latest advice is that operations have also been shut at the EA Terminal, taking the country’s production losses, including Forcados, to some 450,000 barrels a day. Operations at other terminals, however, are reported to be normal (as of 20 February 2006) although security has been raised to Level 2 at most Nigerian terminals.

This follows a call from the "Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta" giving multi-national oil companies in Nigeria 7-days' advance notice from 18 February 2006 to vacate their offices.
