Interim report from IMO Safety of Navigation Sub-committee (NAV 52)

The 52nd session of the IMO Safety of Navigation Sub-committee (NAV 52) took place this week in London 

INTERTANKO was present during the meetings, which encompassed various issues which are still under discussion as we go to press. 

Ø       Evaluation of the use of the Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) and Electronic Navigation Chart (ENC) developments.

Ø       ECDIS performance standards.

Ø       Consideration of a new emergency wreck marking buoy.

Ø       Various amendments to existing Traffic Separation Schemes and Ships Reporting Systems, and implementation of new ones, in the waters of Norway, Tunisia, Galapagos Islands, Denmark, United Kingdom, New Zealand and other waters.

Ø       Performance standards for ship-borne Galileo satellite navigation receivers.
