MSC 81 – Navigation – new traffic separation/routeing schemes

The IMO’s Maritime Safety Committee (MSC 81) has approved new traffic separation schemes for the Baltic Sea Area and the Galapagos Archipelago, which will be implemented at 00.00 UTC on 1 July 2006. Administrations have already been advised through COLREG.2/Circ.56 and SN.1/Circ.250.

The MSC also approved the following MSC Circulars concerning navigation, which the IMO-Secretariat advises will be released in the near future. INTERTANKO will make them available via our Weekly NEWS as soon they are released.

COLREG.2/Circ.57: New and amended traffic separation schemes, and associated routing measures.

SN.1/Circ.253: Routing measures other than traffic separation scheme.

SN.1/Circ.254: New mandatory ship reporting system for the Canary Islands (as associated protective measures for the Canary Islands PSSA)
