MSC 81 – New traffic separation scheme, routing measures and reporting systems adopted.

In INTERTANKO´s Weekly News 21/2006  members were advised that the following circulars had been adopted by MSC 81. They are now available electronically, and available for download.

COLREG.2/Circ.57: New and amended traffic separation schemes, and associated routing measures in:

  • The Canary Islands (new scheme)
  • In the Strait of Juan de Fuca and its approaches (amended scheme)
  • Off Cabo de Gata (amended scheme);
  • Off Porkkala Lighthouse (amended scheme)
  • In the Strait of Dover and adjacent waters (amended scheme).

The new and amended traffic separation schemes listed above will be implemented at 00.00 hours UTC on 1 December 2006.

SN.1/Circ.253: Routing measures other than traffic separation schemes.

Area to be avoided around the CS4 buoy in the DoverStrait and areas to be avoided by ships transiting the Canary Islands.

The aforementioned routing measures other than traffic separation schemes will be implemented at 00.00 hours UTC on 1 December 2006.

SN.1/Circ.254: New mandatory ship reporting system for the Canary Islands

The reporting system will be implemented at 00.00 hours UTC on 1 December 2006.
