INTERTANKO meets the USCG Assistant Commandant for Marine Security, Safety and Environment Protection

INTERTANKO Managing Director, Dr. Peter Swift, met this week with the USCG Assistant Commandant for Marine Security, Safety and Environment Protection and his staff. Radm Gilmour took up his position less than one month ago (1 July 2003) on the retirement of Adm. Pluta. Discussions covered maritime security regulations, tanker safety related issues and possible items that could be included as joint activities within the USCG/INTERTANKO Partnership Agreement.

Also considered were the problems with regard to the Average Most Probable Discharge (AMPD) arrangements and a suggested solution as presented in our letter recently submitted to RAdm. Gilmour (Click here to download a copy of the letter.)

Peter Swift was accompanied by Jonathan Benner and Dragos Rauta.
