CIMAC updates its recommendations for marine fuels

CIMAC, the International Council on Combustion Engines, has now updated its 1990 "Recommendations" for fuel quality for use in Marine Diesel engines. The new Recommendations are posted on the CIMAC web site. The re-issue of these Recommendations tends to precede any developments or updating to the ISO 8217 Standards, whose re-issue is awaited later this year.

The updated Recommendations, which are similar to but in certain instances more restrictive than the ISO 8217 specifications, contain new requirements for the quality of fuel oils for Marine Engines. Click here for details of the changes and recommendations.

Prior to the issuance of the revised ISO 8217 later this year it is recommended that members obtain a copy of these new Recommendations by CIMAC and refer to the requirements when ordering fuels.
