IACS Quality Management System Certification Scheme (QSCS) - revision of the Advisory Committee Terms of Reference

In 1992 the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) implemented its Quality Management System Certification Scheme(QSCS) with the aim of assessing the management system of IACS member classification societies. The scheme incorporates an Advisory Committee with membership from outside IACS including ship owners, insurers, regulators, etc.

Members of the Advisory Committee met on 30 March 2005 with representatives of the IACS Council and the new QSCS secretary to discuss a planned revision of the Advisory Committee’s Terms of Reference, in order to better define its role and functions. A tentative date of 2 June 2005 has been set for completion of the revision.

More details and clarification on the revised role of the Advisory Committee will be made available as soon as the Terms of Reference have been concluded.
