IMO – Implementation detail MARPOL regulations 13G and 13H by Bahamas, China and South Korea

The IMO has issued Circulars forwarding communications received from three Member States regarding how those nations will implement revised Regulation 13G and new Regulation 13H of Annex I of MARPOL.

The Bahamas will apply paragraphs 5 and 7 of Regulation 13G and paragraphs 5, 6, and 7 of Regulation 13H to Bahamian ships. MEPC Circ. 437. The People's Republic of China will not grant exemptions to the regulations, nor will it allow entry by foreign tankers operating under an exemption. MEPC Circ. 440. The Republic of Korea may grant extensions to its tankers carrying heavy grade oil until 4 April 2006 and may ban entry to foreign tankers carrying heavy grade oil from 5 April 2006. MEPC Circ. 441
