INTERTANKO reviews tanker industry improvements at the California Land Commission Symposium - Prevention First 2004

On 14-15 September 2004 the California State Lands Commission (CSLC) sponsored the Prevention First 2004 symposium in Long Beach. The symposium covered topics such as pollution prevention, maritime security, marine safety, and proposed LNG terminals.

INTERTANKO was invited to be among the speakers and was represented by Capt. John Hill of Heidenreich Marine, who presented the INTERTANKO Terminal Vetting Database, and by Dragos Rauta, INTERTANKO's Technical and Engineering Director, who spoke on the "The Prestige Factor". His presentation reviewed the positive changes and improvements the tanker industry has undertaken over the last few years, including the industry effort to eliminate risk, advances in tanker design and construction, the maintenance and inspection of structure and coatings, manning and management.
