INTERTANKO to chair the Advisory Committee of the IACS Quality system Certification Scheme

INTERTANKO’s Technical Director Dragos Rauta was elected to chair the Advisory Committee of the International Association of Classification Societies’ (IACS’) Quality System Certification Scheme (QSCS). The QSCS was set up in 1991 as an arrangement of organisational structure, responsibilities and procedures to verify and certify that a classification society's internal quality management system conforms to the requirements of IACS QSCS. QSCS incorporates the requirements of the latest version of ISO 9001 standard with additional requirements specific to class activity and based on the practical experience of classification societies.

The IACS QSCS Advisory Committee is made up of representatives from industry and government organisations whose purpose is to advise the IACS Quality Committee on  the views of parties interested in the quality management of classification and statutory services and the effectiveness and development of the IACS QSCS. The Advisory Committee aims to contribute to ensuring the improved effectiveness of QSCS and impartial certification of the IACS members to QSCS and to contribute to external understanding of the aims, standards and parameters to which IACS QSCS operates. The Advisory Committee provides an impartial view on the work and performance of classification societies with respect to IACS QSCS and makes recommendations with respect to improving IACS QSCS policy or methods of operation for QSCS.
