INTERTANKO welcomes Singapore Certificate of Quality for bunker fuel

From 1 April 2003, certain bunker tankers in Singapore will be required to carry Certificates of Quality (COQ) showing that the bunker fuels carried are in compliance with ISO 8217 standard.

The Singapore Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) issued a Port Marine Circular stating that, commencing 1 April 2003, certain bunker tankers in Singapore will be required to carry Certificates of Quality (COQ) showing that the bunker fuels carried are in compliance with ISO 8217 standard.  This is a very important step forward for Singapore in order to give better quality control for delivered bunkers. INTERTANKO welcomes this and other initiatives by Singapore MPA to improve quality of bunkers and quality of the control of bunker deliveries. Clearly  the Government of Singapore should be congratulated for having taken adequate measures to comply with the MARPOL Annex VI regulations to which Singapore was one of the first signatories.
