John Einar Dalsvåg elected new Chairman of INTERTANKO’s Offshore Tanker Committee (IOTC)

Capt. John Einar Dalsvåg, Knutsen O.A.S Shipping A/S, was elected as the new Chairman of the INTERTANKO Offshore Tanker Committee (former INTERTANKO Shuttle Tanker Committee) at its meeting in Oslo on 26 November 2003. The Committee decided to change its name from “shuttle tankers” to “offshore tankers” in order to reflect that its agenda has been expanded to cover safety, environmental and operational matters with regard to shuttle tankers, FPSO and FSU units. It has been recognised that this work will be better streamlined with similar committees operated by OCIMF and UKOOA.

It has been decided that the Committee will also address the necessary interface between shuttle tankers and offshore platforms/FPSO/FSU in relation to the ISPS Code (maritime security).

The Committee expressed high regard and thanks to Mr. Øivind O. Larsen, President and CEO of Uglands Rederi AS, who stepped down after 6 years as Chairman. Mr. Larsen has been the initiator and the driving force of the activities of the INTERTANKO Shuttle Tanker Committee and from its inception has contributed a great deal to its successful activities. Among other achievements during his chairmanship the Committee issued Risk Minimisation Guidelines for Shuttle Tanker Operations Worldwide.

On behalf of the entire INTERTANKO membership the Committee offers its thanks and appreciation to Mr. Larsen.
