LNG safety agreement

The U.S. Coast Guard, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), and Department of Transportation has signed an Interagency Agreement for the Safety and Security Review of Waterfront Import/Export LNG Facilities. The agreement addresses cooperation in the siting, design, construction, and operation of liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities and related land and marine safety and security issues. In a Press Release discussing the agreement, FERC states that the agencies are conducting a study to evaluate hazards associated with LNG spills on water for the purpose of developing a model for calculating vapour and thermal hazards associated with such spills.
