Marine Firefighting and Salvage Tabletop Exercise in Houston

Members are advised that the COPT (Captain of the Port) in Houston, Texas, will organise a Marine Firefighting and Salvage Tabletop Exercise on 14 April 2004 in Houston, Texas. The exercise will commence at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at approximately 11:45 a.m. It will be held at the Adams Mark Hotel at 2900 Briarpark. This event will be conducted during the Industrial Fireworld Conference and Exposition and is hosted by the Marine Safety Office Houston-Galveston, Marine Safety Unit Galveston, and the Greater Houston Local Emergency Planning Committee.

This exercise builds on last November's workshop and is designed to enhance regional interoperability amongst all stakeholders within the marine transportation sector. To better focus on key aspects of marine firefighting and salvage, mass rescue/evacuation or terrorism scenarios will not be addressed during this event. Participants are encouraged to review organisational response plans as well as Section 8000 of the Galveston Bay Area Contingency Plan.

To ensure appropriate logistical support for this endeavour, please RSVP to YNCS Beth Meyer EJMeyer@msugalveston.uscg.mil by not later than 7 April 2004. If you have any questions on this event, please do not hesitate to contact LT Joseph J. Leonard, Jr. at (409) 682-1266 or JJLeonard@msugalveston.uscg.mil.
