Pre-planning of survey in dry-dock also for ships not subject to the Enhanced Programme of inspections

The IMO's Maritime Safety Committee at its 82nd session (MSC 82) has approved a new circular MSC.1/Circ.1223 recommending that the pre-planning of surveys in dry-dock which currently apply during surveys of bulk carriers and oil tankers (resolution A.744(18), as amended) should be applicable to all other ship types. Discretion is recommended for ships of less than 100 m, in which case, a meeting between the owner and surveyor may take place during, rather than prior to, the commencement of the survey.
