Singapore - Reminder on quality bunker standard

On 21 December 2004 the Singapore Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) issued Port Marine Circular No. 26 of 2004 reminding the maritime community that the MPA strictly enforces the Singapore Code of Practice for Bunkering.
Bunker suppliers are require to comply with the ISO 8217 marine fuel standard and the fuel they deliver should not include any added substance or chemical waste which could jeopardise the safety of ships, adversely affect the performance of the machinery, be harmful to personnel or contribute overall to additional air pollution. The Circular makes it clear that any bunker supplier or craft operator found delivering contaminated bunker fuel to ships in port may have its bunkering licence suspended or cancelled.
