USCG Marine Safety Information Bulleting - inerting requirements

USCG Group/Marine Safety Office Long Island Sound issued a Marine Safety Information Bulletin reminding operators and masters of tankers of requirements for inerting cargo tanks when flammable or combustible cargoes or cargo residues are carried.

USCG Group/Marine Safety Office Long Island Sound issued a Marine Safety Information Bulletin reminding operators and masters of tankers of requirements for inerting cargo tanks when flammable or combustible cargoes or cargo residues are carried. Recently, the USCG Long Island Office  has identified recurring compliance discrepancies regarding inerting requirements. Deficiencies in the IGS that result in the tank atmosphere being over eight (8) percent are unacceptable and may result in enforcement action.
