- To provide feedback information and advice for consideration
of the INTERTANKO Committees
- To act as a resource group for the INTERTANKO bodies,
bringing forward priorities and matters of concern of
members from that region
- To examine and review national local legislative proposals
and activities affecting the membership
- To co-operate with local industry, governmental and
environmental bodies to achieve the harmonisation of best
trading conditions for the independent tanker owners
- To screen applications for membership with INTERTANKO
from the region
INTERTANKO Hellenic Forum and Committee:br>
The INTERTANKO Hellenic Forum organises the largest single grouping of
members and attendance at Hellenic Forum Meetings have at times exceeded
70 people. The Forum has among themselves selected a steering committee
called the Hellenic Committee which includes the Chairman and Vice-Chairmen
of the Forum.

The inaugural meeting of the Latin American Panel was held
on 1 March 2002 in Miami. Since the Panel is in its initial phase its
work programme is still under development, however the following
issues have been identified:
Main aims:
- Act as resource group for the INTERTANKO bodies,
establishing priorities and raising matters of concern to
the Latin American tanker community
- Act as a catalyst for boosting the participation and
involvement of the members based in Latin America in the
activities of the Association
- Co-operate with other industry bodies in the region to
achieve the harmonisation of best trading conditions for the
tanker owners and promote safety at sea and the protection
of the environment
Main issues:
- Ratification of IMO conventions in the region
- Interface between local authorities/charterers/tanker operators
- Interface with US markets
- Oil spill response
- Port state control
- Promote safety regulation for tonnage below DWT 20,000 in the region
