Guiding Principles to Emergency Management and Crisis Communications
INTERTANKO believe that it is essential that the industry responds quickly and effectively to an industry incident not only to minimize the risks of human life and damage to the environment, but also to ensure that all necessary steps are taken to protect the industry’s public image. These guiding principles have been produced to help the international shipping industry contribute to this objective.

This publication is addressed to shipping companies although should also be of interest to every stakeholder in the chain of responsibility who is aiming towards continuous improvement.

Guiding principles such as these can only be recommendatory in nature, and the user may need to adapt them to fit their particular need and circumstances. On this understanding, the guiding principles are intended to provide useful advice on why it is important to be prepared and what happens if you are not prepared. The publication includes a CD-Rom case study for training purposes.

Commentary on SHELLVOY 6
On 16 March 2005 Shell launched Shellvoy 6, their updated form of tanker voyage charterparty. Their stated intention is to include in the new form all current amendments issued since 1987 and to “clarify standard interpretations and practice.” Shell issued the new form together with an explanatory note and their standard template for recaps (both charter in and charter out) and accompanying notes as well as a note to brokers. The new charterparty form comprises three parts. Parts I and II comprise the main body of the form and Part III contains clauses for specific countries.

This commentary is not comprehensive as it is confined to the material new amendments not previously circulating in the market and focuses on Parts I and II of the new form. This commentary should be read in conjunction with INTERTANKO’s commentary on the Shellvoy 5 which is published in A Guide to Tanker Charters, which remains on point in relation to many of the clauses in Shellvoy 6.

$75.00*/$125.00**

Other Charter Party commentaries

Tanker Bills of Lading - A Practical Guide
This publication is complementary to the successful INTERTANKO publication ‘A Guide to Tanker Charters’. The new Guide describes both law and practice regarding tanker bills of lading, including analysis and explanation of terms used in shipping and banking practice. It also seeks to deal clearly and concisely with some of the common misconceptions and problems that can be encountered with these important documents. It is the only specialised explanation of tanker bills of lading and contains practical advice for practical situations.

$100.00*/$150.00**

Guide to Tanker Charters
‘A Guide to Tanker Charters’ is a successor to the well known volume ‘Tanker Voyage Charters’ that INTERTANKO has published in the past. INTERTANKO is again indebted to its Documentary Committee for producing this practical guide. This edition was published in 2001 and goes well beyond the earlier works as it is the first time that a comprehensive approach has been taken to both time and voyage charterparties for tankers. This publication has become a standard source of reference for those that are regularly engaged in fixing tankers or resolving charterparty disputes.
