The meeting continued the discussion initiated by
Intercargo last October into ways of ensuring the most effective representation
of the industry's views worldwide. No radical restructuring was proposed, and it
was recognised that there is already a high degree of co-operation between the
organisations.
It was agreed, however, to look at the working practices of
the associations to see whether, in changing times, they reflect the optimum
means of developing cohesive industry views with the maximum international
participation and the minimum duplication of resources.
The chairmen
agreed that it was important to maintain the momentum and will meet again in
September, at the invitation of BIMCO, in Copenhagen.
