A new LNG-fuelled ship already delivered to North American owners in 2017 is the Damia Desgagnés, a 15,000 dwt asphalt tanker. Other recent gas related projects have included the first LNGC for Yamal, the Christophe de Margerie and the world’s first purpose built LNG bunker tanker, Engie Zeebrugge.

Caribe Tankers

Caribe Tankers LTD was incorporated in the Marshall Islands in June 2009, founded by a team of industry stalwarts with a strong understanding of the shipping market. The company is represented by Caribe Tankers Inc, a Houston-based incorporation comprising staff with a wealth of experience in ship operations, chartering (especially in the chemical market) and technical support as well as extensive knowledge in mechanical and marine engineering, business, economics and marketing. Caribe Tankers started with two chartered chemical tankers in 2009 and today, it is the proud owner and operator of a fleet of 5 modern IMO II chemical tankers.

International Registries, Inc.

International Registries, Inc. and its affiliates (IRI) provide administrative and technical support to the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) Maritime and Corporate Registries. The RMI Registry is the second largest registry in the world in terms of deadweight tons, surpassing 4,080 vessels and 145 million gross tons at the end of March 2017. IRI has a network of 27 worldwide offices located in major shipping and financial centers throughout the world that have the ability to register a vessel, including those under construction, record a mortgage or financing charter, incorporate a company, issue seafarer documentation and service clientele.

Panama Maritime Authority

The Panama Maritime Authority (AMP) is a government entity with the status of a Ministry of Maritime Affairs. The AMP is responsible for The Panamanian Ship Registry and The Ports Authority.

The Panamanian Ship Registry has three (3) General Directorates:

  • Directorate General of Merchant Marine which is in charge of the registration process and technical matters related to ships.
  • Directorate General of Seafarers has the responsibility to issue seafarers certifications and to comply with the provisions of international seafarer’s conventions.
  • Directorate General of Public Registry of Property Vessels is responsible for the registration of ownership titles, ship mortgages and other kinds of encumbrances over Panamanian vessels.
  • Directorate General of Ports and Maritime Ancillary Industries has the legal function to expand and maintain public ports and its infrastructure. It is also responsible to provide navigational facilities and other services to ships using government operated ports.
