Communications and PR Committee holds workshop on internal marketing of INTERTANKO

INTERTANKO's Communications and PR Committee met in London this week under the chairmanship of Stefano Rosina. The Committee reviewed the focus and direction for the Committee’s agenda and held a workshop on the internal marketing of INTERTANKO. This it regarded as the single most important issue for the Committee after the image of the industry. It encompasses a number of items crucial to how INTERTANKO reacts to, and is perceived by, its members, what its strengths and weaknesses are and how it should market itself internally. The Secretariat will make a preliminary review of the Association's current communication and marketing working structures and report to the Committee at the Singapore Tanker Event.

The Committee discussed the Poseidon Challenge and recommended the setting up of a working group to prepare for the Poseidon Challenge at the Singapore Tanker Event in March 2006.

Other issues addressed included the 2005 Annual Report and Review, the possibility of having a ‘real live’ incident and media response exercise with an INTERTANKO member with a view to creating a model for the membership. Report items included the initiative to create industry awareness among local communities in coastal towns, World Maritime Day, and the progress of the Maritime Industry Foundation
