INTERTANKO submits discussion paper to IMO Working Group on Revision of Annex VI

MARPOL Annex VI was discussed extensively through the 1990s, adopted in 1997 and entered into force in 2005. It sets emission limits on sulphur oxide (SOx) with a global cap of 4.5% on the sulphur content of fuel oil and on nitrogen oxide (NOx) from ship’s engines. Non-OPEC oil supply in 2007 to outstrip demand

OPEC expects non-OPEC supply in 2007 to outstrip demand by 0.5 mbd. The biggest increases in non-OPEC supply are expected in Africa (0.51 mbd), the Former Soviet Union (FSU) (0.51 mbd) and North America (0.35mbd). In the FSU the increase is expected to take place in Russia (Sakhahlin project), Azerbaijan and Kazakstan. Oil production is also expected to increase by some 0.1 mbd each in W Europe...... More


Increasing shipbuilding capacity

In its September report Worldyards projects shipbuilding capacity or "output potential estimate" to increase by some 45% from 2007 to 2011, the biggest increase taking place in 2008.
