~*~ Seasons Greetings ~*~

2006 has been an action-packed year at INTERTANKO, with a huge number of important issues to keep abreast of, and a growing membership to serve – 2006 has seen 20 new Members join INTERTANKO, with 181 tankers totalling 14.2m dwt, as well as 26 new Associate Members. Our members and associate members around the world have been following these issues and at the same time following spot markets that have been swinging between the good and the less good - though rarely as far as the bad - at least not as bad as the days of 420,000 tonnes fixed AG/West in Christmas week 25 years ago in 1981 at WS 16.75.

INTERTANKO's work has embraced issues varying from criminalisation of seafarers to air emissions, from slop disposal to competition law, from anti-fouling to information sharing, from recycling to pilotage, from cadet berths to flag state audit, and has been focused on people and activity at the IMO (in London and in Istanbul), in Europe from Brussels to Athens, in India, China and other Asian countries, in the United States, in South America.

As the year's activity winds down, everyone at INTERTANKO thanks you for your seasonal greetings and best wishes.

We have not sent greetings cards, but we have made a donation to the Mission for Seafarers.

There will be no Weekly NEWS next week, and INTERTANKO offices will be closed on December 25th and 26th, and on January 1st.

However INTERTANKO's offices will remain open on December 27, 28 and 29th.

INTERTANKO wishes all its members and associate members a very happy Christmas and holiday season, and a constructive and prosperous New Year.
