Spanish post-graduate students visit the INTERTANKO London office

As part of INTERTANKO's continuous efforts to promote the tanker industry, students of the Instituto Martimo Español (IME) visited INTERTANKO's London Office last week. The Institute offers various courses for the Spanish speaking community covering i.a. chartering, maritime law, maritime economics.

The delegation consisted of students, mostly with work experience and a non-maritime legal background, who are following the nine-month post-graduate Master of Science (MSc) degree in Business and Maritime Law. They were accompanied by Ms. Mercedes Pardo Gil-Alberti, IME Director, and Professor Fernando Ruiz-Gálvez, IME Professor in Maritime Law and a representative of Spain at the IMO Council/Legal Committee.

A brief review of the Association's activities was given by INTERTANKO's Executive Assistant Chantal Cheung Tam He (click here to view the presentation), elaborating on the efforts and achievements made by the tanker industry in its quest for continuous improvement. The presentation also showed the problems faced when trying to strike a balance and attempting to make sure that any (legislative) measures are also workable from a technical and operational point of view.
