INTERTANKO and OCIMF take part in charity event for seafarers

INTERTANKO has teamed up with OCIMF to raise money for the Sailors'  Society by taking part in a charity event.

INTERTANKO and OCIMF will be represented by a combined team (Ajay Gour – INTERTANKO, Philip Pascoe – OCIMF and Bernard Lesegretain – OCIMF) to take on the national Three Peaks Challenge . The Challenge involves climbing each of the highest peaks in Scotland (Ben Nevis – 1344m), Wales (Snowdon – 1085m) and England (Scafell Pike – 978m) – all in 24 hours!

Our target is to raise a minimum of £5,000 - there is no upper limit!

This is a cause that we all feel strongly about and we hope that each one of you will contribute to our effort by digging deep into your pocket and donating generously.

Please click on the following link, then click on the "Donate Now" button and follow the procedures to donate - and oh, don' t forget to add some words of encouragement ... training has started already!

The money collected will go to a very good cause and will support our ships'  crews, without whom we would have no shipping industry.

Some examples of what your money can do for the seafarers are:

  • £1,150 enables the Society to run the minibus service for three months in Antwerp where seafarers are often berthed miles from amenities.

  • £285 a month will support the running costs for our Indian Port Chaplain in Visakhapatnam.

  • £200 a month supports the Sailors'  Society food programme in Tema, Ghana.

  • $10 buys an international phone credit for seafarers to contact their loved ones.

You can also go on to the Sailors'  Society website to see who they are and what they do for seafarers worldwide.

Finally, after you have made your donations, please also send this request on to your family members, friends, industry colleagues and contacts, explaining how much this means to you and asking them also to donate generously.

We thank you all in advance for your generosity and kindness!
