Sailor's Society running the Three Peaks Challenge 2010 in June

In the Year of the Seafarer it is appropriate that the Sailor's Society is running the Three Peaks Challenge, 18-20 June 2010, to raise funds for the Society. It is recruiting 40 teams of three from the shipping and related industries to experience this exhilarating charity challenge. This demanding event will test participants' physical, team working and fundraising skills as they climb three of Great Britain's highest peaks within 24 hours.

They will take on the might of Ben Nevis (1344m/4406ft) in Scotland, Helvellyn (950m/3118ft) in the Lake District and Snowdon (1085m/3560ft) in Wales. The Society asks that each team aim to raise £5,000 for the charity. The climbs will be competitive with team trophies and prizes for the fastest time, the most sponsorship raised and a points-based combination of the two.
