INTERTANKO/INTERCARGO Lunchtime Seminar 16 November - LNG as a fuel for ship propulsion

The next seminar for UK-based INTERCARGO and INTERTANKO Members is scheduled for Tuesday 16 November 2010, at our combined offices in the Minories.

We are very pleased to announce that Claus Winter Graugaard, Deputy Head, Det Norske Veritas, Danmark A/S, will be speaking on "LNG as a fuel for ship propulsion".

Strict emission limitations are set forth for vessels operating in Emission Control Areas (ECAs) and an increasing number of sea and port areas are being considered for stricter limitations. DNV recommends that ship owners now start preparing for the upcoming 2015 limit of 0.1% sulphur in fuel for all ships in ECAs.

This leaves ship owners with a limited number of options for modifications to their ships if they want to continue trading in the controlled areas. When seeking cost-effective solutions for emission reduction measures, ship owners should consider every technical, regulatory and operational requirement. Each investment decision should be carefully considered so as to ensure successful operations into the future. Could the LNG fuelled engine be considered as a solution?

Graugaard will touch upon the important drivers such as:

  • Environmental and regulatory impact
  • Risk
  • Financial drivers
  • Infrastructure – LNG terminals and bunkering stations
  • Technology and innovation

Time:

1200-1400 (arrivals 1200 for 1215 start of presentation, followed by questions and an informal networking lunch).

Venue:

St Clare House – 9th floor, 30-33 Minories, London EC3N 1DD.

The seminar is free of charge but spaces are limited and registration is required.

We would very much appreciate it if you could register before Thursday 11 November 2010 by e-mailing chantal@intertanko.com.
