INTERTANKO Tanker Chartering Seminar – Singapore – 11 May 2012

We are pleased to announce that INTERTANKO's renowned Tanker Chartering Seminar will next be held on 11 May 2012 in Singapore in conjunction with the Association's annual Tanker Event.

 

The Seminar will focus on tanker charters and the respective rights and liabilities of owners and charterers. It will include the latest developments in chartering law and practice. The preliminary programme is as follows:

  • Piracy – Legal and chartering Issues
  • Vetting Clauses
  • Laytime and Demurrage – current issues
  • Sanctions

 

This full-day seminar will include also include mock arbitrations. These popular interactive sessions illustrate key issues in a lively and thought-provoking way.

 

Well-known speakers for the Seminar include:

Prof Martin Davies, Tulane Law School
Martin Davies is Admiralty Law Institute Professor of Maritime Law and Director of the Maritime Law Center at Tulane Law School in New Orleans. He is author (or co-author) of books on maritime law, international trade law, conflict of laws, and the law of torts and many journal articles. He also has extensive practical experience as a consultant in maritime matters and general international litigation and arbitration. He has advised on cargo claims, arrest and admiralty matters, drafting bills of lading, sea waybills and charterparties, collisions and limitation of liability, oil pollution, salvage, marine insurance, maritime arbitrations and international sale of goods.

 

Jonathan Hare, Skuld, Oslo
Jonathan Hare is a graduate in law of Emmanuel College, Cambridge. He joined Skuld in 1989, initially handling defence cases, since then he has become involved in a wide range of pollution cases. He is now Skuld’s Senior Vice President and Counsel, based in Oslo. He is responsible for a variety of legal matters within the Club, is active on several International Group Sub-Committees and Working Groups including the Pollution Sub Committee and Compulsory Insurance Committee. He is a long-standing member of the INTERTANKO Documentary Committee.

 

Rajeev Philip, Vitol Services Ltd, London
Rajeev Philip is Head of Shipping Legal for the Vitol Group of companies, one of the largest independent trading companies and largest charterers of tankers in the world. Before joining Vitol he was Global Head of Freight Demurrage & Defence at The Steamship Mutual P & I Club and Head of Claims for its Eastern Syndicate. He also sat on the International Group Pollution Sub-committee. He is a long-standing member of INTERTANKO’s Documentary Committee.

 

Anne Liversedge, Teekay, Amsterdam
Anne Liversedge is Associate General Counsel for Teekay and is based in their Amsterdam office. Prior to joining Teekay, Anne was a Partner with Thomas Cooper in London and before that was a Vice President/Senior Lawyer with Skuld in their Piraeus and Oslo offices. She has always specialised in maritime law and now has a particular focus on the tanker and offshore sectors.
