INTERTANKO is currently seeking a Nautical Manager to join our team based in London.
Reporting to the Marine Director you will be responsible for providing support to Members on regulations and policy on Nautical issues for tanker vessels. You will be the Secretary for INTERTANKO’s Nautical Sub-Committee and will represent the organisation at the IMO and IHO on nautical issues. Nautical issues relates to all matters to do with navigation, ports, terminals, mooring, and pilotage. The nature of this role means you will work in collaboration with other organisations and associations along with issuing weekly bulletins / newsletters. Planned international travel will be required on a regular basis for committee attendance as well as to visit Members, attend and speak at events.
To apply for this position you must have recent sailing experience on tanker vessels, achieved the rank of at least Chief Officer and hold a Class I master mariner’s licence. In addition we would expect that you have subsequently worked ashore in a management capacity for example as an inspector, part of an administration or a Superintendent.

The ability to work with Members, colleagues and the international community requires first class communication skills including the ability to take a very complex issue and distill them in order to make them accessible to others. Therefore, your communication skills, both in written and oral form are vital, as is the ability to record and write agendas and minutes of meetings. Tolerance, patience and the ability to create consensus is vitally important.
