REGULATORY PLANNING - MADE EASIER ON THE WEB - LEGISLATION COMING INTO FORCE IN THE YEARS AHEAD

Legislative affairs occupy an increasing amount of time in the daily work of the tanker owners. Through the Weekly NEWS, INTERTANKO endeavours to provide comprehensive and prompt reports from regulatory meetings attended by the INTERTANKO Secretariat on international, national and regional levels.  However, it has become apparent that there is also a need for our membership to have online access to additional and user-friendly regulatory information, in order to facilitate planning and compliance with current and future requirements.

To provide this we have created a new page on our web site called ‘Regulatory Planning’ with links to the most important sources of information, such as IMO, USCG and IACS. On these pages you will find dates of entry into force for various regulations, a regulatory archive and an overview of programmed meetings of the IMO.

Another excellent guide on this subject is the recently published Lloyd’s Register booklet ‘Future IMO Legislation 2000’. It is concise, comprehensive and covers:

  • Future IMO legislation entering into force between January 2001 and 2010
  • Legislation under consideration as of 31 December 2000.

If you would like to receive a complimentary copy of the booklet, please address theodore.plessas@intertanko.com or john.taverner@lr.org at Lloyd’s Register, tel: +44 20 7423 2799 or fax: +44 20 7423 2061.
