India/Paradip – increase of charges

The Tariff Authority for Major Ports (TAMP) has approved a uniform increase of 5% of all vessel-related charges.  Consequently, Paradip has revised its port dues, pilotage and berth hire charges with effect from 27 May 2001.

However, vessel-related charges, which were not included in the above, have been increased as follows:

  1. Anchorage fee within port limits:  USD 105/day or part thereof (coastal vessels INR 3,220.00).
  2. Removal of Yokohama fenders on request USD 316 (coastal vessels INR 9,658.00) recovered from vessel or from the exporter/importers as the case may be.
  3. USD 420 (coastal vessels INR 12,878) levied on the vessel whose movement was planned on Sundays/Holidays, but does not take place due to vessel’s reasons.
  4. USD 525 for warping vessels to their convenience (coastal vessels INR 16,097).
  5. Cancellation charge USD 105 (coastal vessels INR 3,220) unless pilot is cancelled at least two hours prior requested boarding.
  6. If vessel is unable to move within 30 minutes after the pilot boarding, extra charge USD 105 (coastal vessels INR 3,220).
  7. If ship movement is cancelled after the pilot boards the vessel, cancellation charge USD 210 (coastal vessels INR 6,439).
  8. Additional berth hire charge USD 105/hour or part thereof (coastal vessels INR 3,220) if vessel is not ready to sail within two hours after completion of cargo.
  9. USD 315 per day or part thereof (coastal vessels INR 9,658) if a pilot is over carried outside port limits due to bad weather.
  10. A fee of USD 2.10 per person per hour (coastal vessels INR 65) for supply of skilled personnel for mooring operations.

Nigeria – simplified tariff again postponed

Further to article in Weekly NEWS No. 08 2001, the implementation of the Nigerian Ports Authority’s new simplified tariffs has been postponed till 15 March 2001.

South Africa/Durban – increase of SBM charges

New charges are set to come into effect from 01 April 2001; the last increase was in November 1999.  In line with Portnet tariff increases throughout the country, the increase is approximately 10%, rounded off to ZAR 1,450.00/hour of towage.
