Firing practice will be carried out daily during period 05 May 2001 to 24 May 2001 from 0200 GMT to 1500 GMT, in the areas bounded by the following positions:

Area 'A'

1. 27 degrees, 50' North / 49 degrees, 36' East

2. 27 degrees, 26' North / 49 degrees, 51' East

3. 27 degrees, 27' North / 50 degrees, 27' East

4. 27 degrees, 37' North / 50 degrees, 22' East

5. 27 degrees, 51' North / 49 degrees, 52' East

Area 'B'

1. 26 degrees, 52.0' North / 49 degrees, 50.6' East

2. 26 degrees, 52.75' North / 49 degrees, 50.6' East

3. 26 degrees, 52.75' North / 49 degrees, 51.33' East

4. 26 degrees, 52.0' North / 49 degrees, 51.33' East

Area 'C'

1. 26 degrees, 56.0' North / 49 degrees, 42.0' East

2. 26 degrees, 56.0' North / 49 degrees, 44.0' East

3. 26 degrees, 58.0' North / 49 degrees, 44.0' East

4. 26 degrees, 58.0; North / 49 degrees, 42.0' East

Safe height 5,000 feet.   Mariners are advised to keep clear of these areas during these periods.

USA/Texas City – additional information on oil spill

Referring to our article in Weekly NEWS No. 12 dated 23 March 2001 regarding an oil spill at Texas City week No 11; INTERTANKO has received additional information as to the cause.  Hurricane winds exceeding 80 mph at the time lead to the incident/leakage of the cargo arms.
