USCG AND IACS SPEAK AT ROTTERDAM TANKER EVENT 2002

As previously announced, next year’s Tanker Event will take place in Rotterdam 14 – 17 April 2002, and we have invited personalities from the tanker industry, regulatory bodies and relevant organisations to share their views and future visions. We are delighted to have confirmations from the USCG and IACS to our invitations.

Since 1996 The Netherlands have experienced a revival of the shipping sector. The number of ships registered and operated from the Netherlands, and newbuildings ordered by Dutch shipowners and foreign shipowners relocating to the Netherlands have increased steadily over the last years. The resurgence of the shipping industry has been partially driven by tax measures (the new Dutch Tonnage Tax system) and also by the development of the infrastructure and connections to the rest of Europe.

Rotterdam is easily accessible for international travellers, only 45 minutes by train from Schiphol Amsterdam Airport, with the Westin and Hilton hotels both within walking distance from Rotterdam’s Central Station. In addition, Rotterdam Airport offers regular flights to and from neighbouring countries.

The Rotterdam Tanker Event 2002 offers an opportunity for the INTERTANKO membership and the industry at large to visit a maritime centre in Europe, and at the same time re-new old friendships and business relations and discuss issues that are important for the tanker shipping community.

Make sure to mark the Rotterdam Tanker Event 14-17 April 2002 in your diary TODAY!
