Reports have been received regarding difficulties in using halon reception facilities in accordance with IMO procedures and EC Regulation 2037/2000.

In particular it has been noted that some facilities have been charging excessively, up to GBP5000 per tonne, for the service of receiving halon. It is clear that there is a cost involved with the disposal of the gas and so a ‘reasonable’ charge can be expected. However, INTERTANKO is aware that in some ports there is no charge for this service. Please click here for a list of halon reception facilities

Should any difficulties be incurred when using of these facilities please contact Tim Wilkins, In addition any further feedback from members on this issue would be welcomed.
