On 28 May MPA suspended the bunkering licences of a bunker supplier / bunker craft operator, Coastal Bunkering Services Pte Ltd., following the conviction of five bunker surveyors on 24 May for accepting bribes from this company. This is the third Singapore bunker company to have its licence suspended.

INTERTANKO has established effective channels within the MPA for expediting shipowners' complaints regarding bunkering problems either in the form of a quality or quantity issue. INTERTANKO applauds MPA's diligence and commitment to addressing bunkering issues.

MPA in correspondence to INTERTANKO says "We appreciate your feedback on bunkering services in the port to MPA and would like to assure INTERTANKO that MPA will take appropriate actions against any bunker suppliers / operators for failure to comply with the SS CP 60. We would also appreciate it if you could convey this message to your members and advise them the importance of complying with SS CP 60 when taking bunkers in the Port of Singapore."

Previous complaints from INTERTANKO members also led to amendments to Singapore bunkering standard, CP60. INTERTANKO is this week making a submission to the Technical Committee for Bunkering to propose further amendments to CP60.
