US crude oil imports and stocks up – EIA

US crude oil imports in week 42 jumped by 0.5 mbd to 10.0 mbd compared to the previous week, the highest weekly amount of imports since mid May 2001. Imports so far 2002 are still 3% lower than for the same period in 2001. Domestic oil production so far in 2002 is marginally above the average for the same period in 2001. US gasoline imports taking a dive – EIA

US gasoline imports until the beginning of October were very strong and gasoline imports so far in 2002 are still some 17% above the same period in 2001. However, gasoline imports in the 2nd and 3rd week of October were only 0.6 mbd, compared to an average of 0.8 mbd so far in 2002. Tanker transits through the Suez Canal down - Suez Canal Authority

Only 105 VLCCs transited the Suez Canal southbound in ballast in January to September this year, compared to 195 for the same period in 2001. Russian oil to US strategic reserves- Nefte Compass

Russia’s third largest oil producer, Tyumen Oil Co., has delivered 140,000 tonnes of crude oil to the US, as a move to test new markets. Lukoil and Yukos exported oil to Asia and the US this summer.
