Increase in the number of requests for SIRE reports

The number of requests for SIRE reports has increased from 15,123 for the period May 2000 to May 2001, to 20,363 for the period May 2002 to May 2003. The number of submitted reports also increased from 9,482 to 10, 752 in the same period.

The OCIMF Newsletter July 2003 reports that the number of requests for SIRE reports has increased from 15,123 for the period May 2000 to May 2001, to 20,363 for the period May 2002 to May 2003. The number of submitted reports also increased from 9,482 to 10, 752 in the same period. The number of tankers in the database was 4,720.

Looking at the graph for requested and submitted SIRE reports from May 1996, the number per month hovered between 600 and 800 from May 1996 to February 1999. Then the number of requested reports leaped to some 1,200 per month. There was a decline in requested reports after mid-2000 to below 1,000 per month, but towards the end of 2001 the number increased to around 1,200 again, and in mid 2002 it passed 1,400 per month. At the turn of the year 2002/2003 the number of reports almost reached 1,800 per month.

The number of submitted reports has, however, not changed much since 1998 and has hovered around 800 per month.
