25 May - INTERTANKO meeting with US CG re Q.88

INTERTANKO meets with US Coast Guard to present the Q88 tanker questionnaire programme and to discuss the possibility of linking the US CG’s PSIX system (Port State Information Exchange) to the Q88 system.

26 May – DNV Tanker Seminar, Hamburg

INTERTANKO’s Research and Projects Manager Erik Ranheim will make a presentation on tanker performance, structural changes and market trends.

28 May – International Seminar on Maritime Safety, Istanbul

Deputy Managing Director and General Counsel Svein Ringbakken will speak on tanker safety.

31 May – Tanker Meeting, Istanbul

Meeting with local members and other tanker companies. MD Peter Swift and Svein Ringbakken will attend.

3 June - Seamen's Church Institute Silver Bell Award / Conference, New York

The Rev. Canon Peter Larom, former Executive Director of the Seamen's Church Institute of New York and New Jersey, will be the recipient of the 2004 Silver Bell (awarded in 1997 to IMO Secretary-General Bill O’Neil) at the SCI's 27th Annual Silver Bell Awards Dinner at Chelsea Piers in New York City.INTERTANKO’s Chairman, Technical Director and Managing Editor will attend.

4 June - INTERTANKO meeting with mainstream press, New York

INTERTANKO’s Chairman Stephen Van Dyck, Technical Director Dragos Rauta and Managing Editor Bill Box will meet with New York’s mainstream (ie non-shipping) press at 0900 in the Rihga Royal Hotel.

15 June - INTERTANKO/ILTA/USCG Chemical Tanker Seminar, Houston, Texas.

The INTERTANKO Chemical Tanker Subcommittee - Americas (CTSCA) will hold its first Chemical Tanker Seminar in the afternoon of 15 June 2004 at the Hilton Hotel in Houston, Texas. A meeting of the CTSCA will be held in the morning. Issues discussed at the seminar will include maritime safety and security, environmental crimes, state regulations; there will be a presentation on the chemical tanker market outlook. There will also be a US CG and IMO update as well as a presentation by the COTP Houston-Galveston.

The meeting and seminar are being held in conjunction with the ILTA (Independent Liquid Terminals Association) Annual Conference and Trade Show, allowing attendees to participate in both events. The seminar is open to INTERTANKO and ILTA members, former CCA members and any other interested parties who register before 7 June 2004.

22-23 June - Platts Bunker and Residual Fuel Conference, New Orleans

The conference will take place in the Hotel Monaco in New Orleans. INTERTANKO’s Technical and Engineering Director Dragos Rauta will make a presentation and will be on the panel for the session entitled Assessing the Environmental and Regulatory outlook for the bunker and residual markets.

28-29 June - API Biennial Tanker Conference, San Diego, California

The conference will take place at the Rancho Bernardo Inn, San Diego with the theme of ‘Cooperative Solutions to Common Problems’ and with a list of top U.S. and international speakers. INTERTANKO’s Chairman Stephen Van Dyck will moderate the session entitled ‘The cost of doing business in the US – seeking the proper balance’. INTERTANKO’s Technical Director Dragos Rauta will also be present.
