Records for the Cleaning of Fuel Oil Tanks (de-mucking) and Cargo Tanks of Bunker Barges

In preparation for the 1 January 2020 phase in of using 0.10% and 0.50% sulphur content fuel oils, ships will have to clean bunker tanks that have been used for high sulphur fuel oil. In addition, many cargo tanks on bunker barges will need to be cleaned and prepared to carry and supply low sulphur content fuels only from 1 January 2020.
This document has been produced in consultation with INTERTANKO’s Safety and Technical Committee (ISTEC) and Environmental Committees to provide guidance for proper recording of these operations.
In observing this guidance, ship operators should always first consult their Flag Administration to gain consent.
