Tanker order book still at high level

The orderbook for tankers above 10,000 dwt is still at a very high level. As of end July 2002, 629 tankers of 62.8 million dwt are on order which, in number terms, is the highest level since the mid-1970s. In dwt terms the orderbook was higher in August 2001 when 65.5 million dwt was on order. It is only the Suezmax (68 tankers of 10.7 million dwt) and VLCC (72 tankers of 22.2 million dwt)...... More

Minerva Alfonso will be relinquishing her position as Asian Regional Manager, commencing maternity leave on 8 August. John Fawcett-Ellis will succeed Minerva in Singapore as Regional Manager, responsible for Asia-Pacific (excluding Japan) and secretary of the Asian Panel, while retaining his position as Legal Counsel.
