CMA Shipping 2007 attracts the crowds

A record number of delegates and exhibitors turned out this week in Stamford, Connecticut for the Annual meeting of the Connecticut Maritime Association (CMA). INTERTANKO’s North American Panel met on the first day, thus the Association well represented by members, associate members and staff throughout the various CMA events. OSG’s President and CEO, Morten Arntzen was elected Commodore for 2007 and was “anointed” by INTERTANKO member Per Heidenreich. INTERTANKO congratulates Mr Arntzen.

 

The joint INTERTANKO-INTERCARGO stand was frequented by many visitors who took the opportunity to stop by either to say “hello” or learn more about the work of our associations. The stand also included a live demonstration of the Maritime Industry Foundation website and where the latest version of the Maritime Information Knowledge Centre was rolled out.

 

During the opening session of the Conference, INTERTANKO’s Managing Director Peter Swift joined others, including recently-appointed Maritime Administrator Sean Connaughton and ABS President  Chris Wiernicki, discussing “Defining Leadersrhip: Industry Tackles Global Challenges”. In his presentation click here, Swift suggested that industry’s representative bodies lacked legitimacy if they were not pro-active and that one of the biggest challenges facing the industry’s representative bodies was to be dynamic.
