INTERTANKO/INTERCARGO U.K. Members’ Forum for February - incident management from a legal perspective

Our next lunch forum for U.K.-based INTERTANKO and INTERCARGO members will include Intermanager members and is scheduled for Wednesday 21 February 2007 from 12.00 to 14.30 at St Clare House, 30-33 Minories, London EC3N 1DD.

With increased emphasis being placed on the identification and management of risks, members now have an opportunity to hear from a leading expert on how masters and owners/managers can react in the immediate aftermath of an incident to reduce the negative impact - from a legal perspective.

Ian Maclean of Ince and Co. will discuss what type of documents are commonly disclosed under the English legal process and will suggest how owners and others can gain effective control of the situation after an incident. Themes such as the keeping of written evidence of timed events, the importance of equating performance against any contractual arrangements, and the preservation of original documents will be covered at this presentation. Additional factors discussed will include the legal position of the Safety Management System and how courts can call for documents to be disclosed on previous incidents involving other vessels owned/managed by the respective company.

Please e-mail our U.K. Regional Manager, Minerva Alfonso, to register for the above seminar on or before 16 February 2007.
