New Postgraduate Maritime Education Institute planned in Dubai - industry views being sought on course content and future skill needs

Leading international maritime education, research and innovation institutions are planning to establish a new " International Institute of Maritime Science"  for postgraduate studies in Dubai.


The involved universities of the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU), the principal international ship owners' associations and other maritime industry representatives, governmental administrations and representatives of Dubai Maritime City have been working together to develop this project. The objectives are to offer innovative postgraduate degrees (Master and PhD) in various maritime disciplines as well as programmes for further qualifications to the international maritime community.


In recognition of the importance that the marine industry places on its principal asset, namely its people, and the continuing thrust of globalisation; and having identified the value of international postgraduate courses in the maritime sciences, this new maritime education, research and innovation institute will be established in Dubai. The sponsors are wholeheartedly committed to addressing the needs and requirements of the global maritime world by offering this world-class programme to the international community.
