British Columbia modifies carbon tax regulations for international shipping

Further to our report in Weekly NEWS No. 21/2008 of 23 May 2008, the Canadian Province of British Columbia (BC) has recognised the concerns and objections raised by INTERTANKO and other industry representatives, and has modified its regulations with respect to international shipping.

These changes effectively exempt ships in international trades from the Province's carbon tax measures. INTERTANKO appreciates the attention paid to this matter at both the Federal and Provincial level and the changes adopted.
